I watched a show on MTV (shut up, I know) about how race affects body image. One Asian girl had a fold put into her eyes to "fit in" and be more "normal" and "prettier". I couldn't really understand how she felt because I have a natural fold from genetics, and I personally haven't tried to fit in since 8th grade and since then have resigned myself to being a geek, which is probably even more laughable than my Asianness. I also go to a school where racism is probably less present than in most places, so I haven't had to deal with a lot of it since elementary school.
I have some issues about self image, but that isn't really affected by my race. Only a bit. I know I have a whole bunch of Asians (and non Asians) on my friendslist. Do you have any self-image issues with your race? Are you made fun of because you look "different"? Do you want to change the way you look?
I'm curious to hear what you guys have to say. (Hey, even if you aren't Asian, feel free to join in.)
