introspection in weird moments

(no subject)

So I've been trying out podfic again, which is fun, even though I am beginning to suspect that I will never, ever, in a million years, like the way my voice sounds.

Also, to anyone who has ever podficced or tried to podfic my fic, I AM SO SORRY. I knew I was overly fond of unwieldy sentences, but I hadn't realized that they were that unwieldy. So, yeah, SORRY ABOUT THAT.

ETA: I also cannot apparently say the word 'dick' without breaking out into a giggle fit because I am approximately 10 years old.

In other news, I am rereading The Hobbit, and it just makes me want to rewatch all of the LotR movies, as grand and as deeply flawed as they were. Aw, Middle Earth. I missed you a little. I feel like all of my early fannish days are coming back.

I am going to acquire a new laundry basket today.

So I read an excellent article, Fear a Chinese planet, which is all about how speculative fiction reflects how people hate us and are afraid of us and likes pretend that we aren't real people. I didn't have anything to say about the "Chinese professor" ad when it first came out and I still don't, but this article is here to point out that it's not new and it's not surprising. I don't know, you guys. I hate that I am always reminded of this stuff when I am the least emotionally capable of handling it. I'm a real person, you guys, flawed and imperfect and tangled up the messy bullshit that is life, just the same as all of you. I hate that I feel like I need to prove it to anybody. I hate that the people I love are turned into this scary monolith of like, I don't even know what. Fuck everything, you guys.

Still having difficulties writing. I'm going to probably go into the kinkmeme and post something anon just because I can.
